Brazil: New consolidated INMETRO Ordinance for vehicle components
Brazil has published Ordinance No. 145 of March 28, 2022 which approves the Technical Quality Regulations and Conformity Assessment Requirements for Automotive Components.
The regulation applies to automotive components for road vehicles intended for the aftermarket, as follows:
I – suspension shock absorbers;
II – electric fuel pump for Otto cycle engines;
III – horn;
IV – light aluminum alloy pistons, pins and locking rings (retention);
V – piston rings;
VI – bearings;
VII – lamps;
VIII – lead-acid battery;
IX – friction materials for brakes, and
X – tie rods, tie rods, tie rods and axial leads.
These products had been regulated in Brazil before but the new Ordinance consolidates and updates some requirements.
