Tanzania: New specification for textiles car seat covers
Tanzania has published a new draft standard TDC 3 (1144) CD3, Textiles — Car Seat Covers — Specification, First Edition.
This Draft Tanzania Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for car seat covers made of leather or different fabric types including coated fabrics.
In accordance with the standard, the fabric used in the manufacture of car seat cover shall be free from dressing and filling materials and from substances liable to cause subsequent tendering. The fabric used to manufacture car seat covers shall comply with TZS 1423.
The fabric structure shall be woven or knitted.
The burning behaviour of car seat covers fabric shall be tested in accordance with 16 CFR Part 1610 and be of at least Class 1. See ISO 6940 and ISO 6941.
The following information shall indelibly be marked on a label sewn or marked at an appropriate position on the car seat cover:
- Manufacturers name, address and registered trade mark;
- Name and description of the product;
- Batch number;
- Car type;
- Composition of the material of the car seat cover;
- Instructions for use;
- Instructions for disposal; and
- Country of manufacture.
