USA: Advanced Clean Cars II Regulations in California

California has published a Proposed rule – Advanced Clean Cars II Regulations.

It amends and extends existing rules to further reduce harmful pollution from light-and medium-duty motor vehicles. The proposed regulations will increase the stringency of existing regulations to ensure emissions are reduced under a wider range of conditions under which vehicles are used and will transition new light-duty vehicle sales in California to 100% zero-emission by 2035.

In addition to the substantive proposals, several conforming changes are proposed to related regulations to maintain consistency with existing regulations and maintain existing requirements in regulations that are not being proposed for amendment.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) will conduct a public hearing on 9 June 2022 at 9:00am Pacific Time. This public meeting may continue at 8:30 a.m., on 10 June 2022.

More information about this legislative initiative is available in California Regulatory Notice Register 2022, Volume Number 15-Z, starting from page 426 HERE
