Worldwide: Upcoming sessions of the UN ECE World Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29)
WP.29 is a permanent working party in the institutional framework of the United Nations with a specific mandate and rules of procedure. It works as a global forum allowing open discussions on motor vehicle regulations. Any member country of the United Nations and any regional economic integration organization, set up by country members of the United Nations, may participate fully in the activities of the World Forum and may become a contracting party to the Agreements on vehicles administered by the World Forum.
The WP.29 regularly publishes and updates new UN vehicle regulations. The next session of the body is taking place on 21- 24 June 2022. Amongst the proposed documents that will be discussed for potential adoption are:
- 05 series of amendment to Regulation No. 12 (Steering mechanism)
- 03 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 117 (Tyre rolling resistance, rolling noise and wet grip)
- 03 Series of Amendments to Regulation No. 127 on pedestrian protection.
- 02 Series of Amendments to Regulation No. 131 on advanced emergency braking systems for heavy duty vehicles.
- 02 Series of Amendments to Regulation No. 135 on pole side impact performance.
- 01 Series of Amendments to Regulation No. 136 on the safety requirements for L Category vehicles with an electric power train.
- 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 148 (Light signalling devices)
- 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149 (Road illumination devices)
- 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150 (Retro-reflective devices)
- 01 Series of Amendments to Regulation No. 157 on automatic lane keeping systems (ALKS).
- A new UN Regulation on audible reverse warning devices for heavy duty vehicles.
- Proposal for amendments to the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3)
