Argentina: UN regulation for electric vehicles adopted in Argentina
Argentina has notified Draft Resolution No. 09/23 – MERCOSUR Technical Regulation on Powertrains of Electric Vehicles. The purpose of the notified project is to establish the technical requirements that vehicles must meet in relation to the electric powertrain, in order to improve road safety in the MERCOSUR States Parties.
The provisions included in Appendix 1 uses as a basis the 03 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100, are adopted as “MERCOSUR Technical Regulations on Powertrains of Electric Vehicles”.
The requirements established in point VI.1 of this MERCOSUR Technical Regulation are considered also satisfied if the vehicles comply with the technical specifications established by the “Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard” (FMVSS) No. 305.
However, the provisions contained in Items 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 and Annexes 1 and 2 of the UN Regulation No. 100 do not apply:
- Application for approval
- Homologation
- Modification and extension of type approval
- Production compliance
- Penalties for non-conformity of production
- Definitive cessation of production
- Names and addresses of the technical services responsible for carrying out the approval tests and of the type approval authorities
- Transitional provisions
