Taiwan: Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment – update

The Taiwanese Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) has proposed to amend the “Technical Specification for the Verification and Inspection of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment.” The major changes are as follows:

  1. For electric vehicle supply equipment manufactured or imported before January 1, 2023, test certificate documents are not required;
  2. The validity period of verification will be extended to 8 years; and
  3. The fixed position and content of nameplate of equipment will be changed.

The specification applies to electric vehicles (EV) supply equipment for charging electric vehicles, with a rated supply voltage up to AC 1,000 V or DC 1,500 V and a rated output voltage up to AC 1,000 V or DC 1,500 V.  It makes it subject to the BSMI conformity inspection.

The updated specification can be accessed HERE.
