EU: Templates for type approval of ISA, DDAW, EDR, AIF and ADDW

The EU has published a draft law providing the templates of the documents for the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their intelligent speed assistance system, driver drowsiness and attention warning system, event data recorder, alcohol interlock installation facilitation and advanced driver distraction warning system.

Based on the empowerment in Articles 4(7) of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the so called General Safety Regulation), the draft provides the templates for the information document and the type-approval certificate for the advanced vehicle systems referred to in Article 6 of that regulation (i.e. ISA, DDAW, EDR, AIF and ADDW). The templates will facilitate the procedure for EU type-approval of motor vehicles and their systems.

This initiative provides the templates of the documents for the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their intelligent speed assistance system, driver drowsiness and attention warning system, event data recorder, alcohol interlock installation facilitation and advanced driver distraction warning system. It will ensure consistency in the implementation of the EU vehicle approval legislation.
