Denmark: New Executive order on technical requirements for vehicles and their equipment and use
Denmark has published a new law on technical requirements for vehicles. Several categories are in scope:
Cars (M1, M2, M3), trucks (N1, N2, N3), motorcycles (2- and 3-wheelers), mopeds, tractors, non-road mobile machinery, trailers (O1, O2, O3, O4) and agricultural vehicles, etc. The affected vehicle types correspond to those mentioned in EU-regulations 2018/858/EU, 167/2013/EU and 168/2013/EU.
In accordance with the order:
- Technical requirements for vehicles and their equipment when they have received or are seeking national, individual approval. This does not apply to unmodified, EU type-approved vehicles.
- Relevant regulations for modified vehicles that require approval, whether or not they were originally EU type-approved.
- Rules governing the use of vehicles in areas subject to the Danish Traffic Regulation Act.
The objective of the executive order is to bring the Danish technical requirements for vehicles and their equipment closer to the corresponding EU-regulation but also respecting the need for some national derogations.
The proposed date of adoption is 6 December 2024, the proposed date of entry into force 1 January 2025.
