South Korea: New standards for EV supply equipment
South Korea has published three new standards for EV supply equipment, harmonized with international ones. These are:
KATS Public Notification No.2026-206(1 July 2026) introducing IEC TS 62196-3-1(Ed 1.0 2020-03): Plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors and vehicle inlets — Conductive charging of electric vehicles — Part 3-1: Vehicle connector, vehicle inlet and cable assembly for DC charging intended to be used with a thermal management system
KATS Public Notification No.2026-206(1 July 2026) introducing IEC 62196-1(Ed 4.0 2022-05): Plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors and vehicle inlets — Conductive charging of electric vehicles — Part 1: General requirements
KATS Public Notification No.2026-206(1 July 2026) IEC 61851-1(Ed 3.0 2017-02): Electric vehicle conductive charging system — Part 1: General requirement
The last one adds safety requirements for car-stopper(speed bump) type EV charger(Annex F) – Incoporation into the formal regulatory system through the regulatory sandbox for demonstration.
