Kenya: New automotive standards
Kenya has published several new standards for vehicles. These are:
- DARS 2045:2024 Telescopic shock absorbers for automobile suspension damping — Specification
- DARS 2043:2024 Road vehicles — Fuel filters — Specification
- DARS 2041:2024 Oil filters — Specification
The first one specifies the general performance requirements and test methods for telescopic shock absorbers used in automobile suspension damping, not including struts and semi-struts.
The second one specifies materials, performance requirements, and test methods for road vehicles fuel filters. It references the international standard: ISO 4020, Road vehicles — Fuel filters for diesel engines — Test methods.
The third one specifies materials, performance requirements, and test methods for oil filters. It references the following international standards:
- ISO 11841-1, Road vehicles and internal combustion engines — Filter vocabulary — Part 1: Definitions of filters and filter components
- ISO 11841-2, Road vehicles and internal combustion engines — Filter vocabulary — Part 2: Definitions of characteristics of filters and their components
- ISO 4548-1, Methods of test for full-flow lubricating oil filters for internal combustion engines — Part 1: Differential pressure/flow characteristics
- ISO 4548-13, Methods of test for full-flow lubricating oil filters for internal combustion engines — Part 13: Static burst pressure test for composite filter housings
The proposed date of the standards is 31 December 2024.
