Thailand: New regulations for Electric Vehicles Supply Equipment
Thailand has published new regulations for Electric Vehicles Supply Equipment.
These are:
- draft Ministerial Regulation that mandates electric vehicle supply equipment for mode 2 charging of electric road vehicles of categories M and N to conform to the Thai Industrial Standard TIS 62752-2567 (2024) In-Cable Control and Protection Device (IC-CPD) for Mode 2 Charging of Electric Road Vehicles.
- draft Ministerial Regulation that mandates electric vehicle supply equipment for mode 3 charging of electric road vehicles of categories M and N to conform to the Thai Industrial Standard TIS 61851 Part 1-2567 (2024) Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging System – Part 1: General Requirements
- draft Ministerial Regulation that mandates electric vehicle supply equipment for mode 4 charging of electric road vehicles of categories M and N to conform to the Thai Industrial Standard TIS 61851 Part 23-2567 (2024) Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging System – Part 23: DC Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment.
The regulations refer to various international standards such as:
- IEC 62752 Edition 2.0 (2024-03) In-cable control and protection device (IC-CPD) for mode 2 charging of electric road vehicles
- IEC 61851-1 Edition 3.0 (2017-02) Electric vehicle conductive charging system – Part 1: General requirements + COR1:2023
- IEC 61851-23 Edition 2.0 (2023-12) Electric vehicle conductive charging system – Part 23: DC electric vehicle supply equipment
Moreover, several Thai standards are prescribed:
- TIS 166-2549 (2006) Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Household and Similar Purposes : Plugs and Socket-Outlets with Rated Voltage Not Exceeding 250 V
- TIS 11 Series Polyvinyl Chloride Insulated Cables of Rated Voltages Up to and Including 450/750 V
- TIS 955 Series Rubber Insulated Cables – Rated Voltages Up to and Including 450/750 V
