China: New GB standard for safety requirements for dismantling and crushing of traction battery used in electric vehicle
China has published a new GB standard for safety requirements for dismantling and crushing of traction battery used in electric vehicle. It has no number yet.
It specifies the basic requirements as well as safety requirements for dismantling and shredding during the recycling process of traction batteries used in electric vehicles.
The standard applies to the processes such as dismantling and shredding during the recycling process of traction batteries used in electric vehicles.
In accordance with the standard:
- Projects involving the dismantling and crushing of vehicle power batteries shall be carried out in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations.
- All safety devices and facilities shall be regularly inspected, calibrated, or tested according to their functions and nature, and shall be regularly maintained and serviced.
- Emergency plans shall be developed for potential safety accidents in each process, and emergency drills shall be organized regularly.
- The fire protection design of buildings such as workshops, warehouses, and storage tanks (areas) for vehicle power battery dismantling and crushing operations shall comply with the provisions of GB 50016.
- The design of electrical installations located in explosion and fire hazard areas shall comply with the provisions of GB 50058. 4.1.6 Gas detectors shall be installed in crushing and pyrolysis areas according to the release zones of flammable and asphyxiating gases.
- The exhaust gas treatment system shall take measures to prevent and control explosions according to its explosion-proof characteristics. Depending on the equipment’s operating conditions, at least one of the following explosion-proof devices should be provided: a) Explosion relief device: used to discharge explosion products before the explosion pressure reaches the system’s explosion resistance strength; b) Explosion-proof device: installed on the air duct to block flames and explosion shock waves.
- The dust collector should operate under negative pressure conditions and should be equipped with explosion-proof and explosion relief devices.
