EU: EU Commission imposes definitive anti-dumping duties on Chinese passenger car and light lorry tyres

 

On 7 July 2026, the European Commission adopted a regulation imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of passenger car and light lorry tyres originating in China.

The duties range from 4.3% to 45.3% and follow an investigation concluding that Chinese exporters were selling these tyres in the EU at dumped prices. According to the Commission, these imports have caused material injury to the EU tyre industry, which employs more than 80,000 people across 14 Member States.

The investigation covered a broad range of pneumatic rubber tyres for passenger cars and light lorries with a load index below 121.

In 2024, EU consumption of these tyres reached approximately 330 million units, representing a market valued at more than €18 billion. During the same period, imports from China totalled nearly 93 million units, worth over €2.5 billion, accounting for a 28% share of the EU market.

A parallel anti-subsidy investigation concerning the same product category remains ongoing and is expected to conclude in December 2026.
