UE: Versione finale del regolamento per i modelli di omologazione dei sistemi di sicurezza dei veicoli
The European Commission has published a final version of an Implementing Regulation laying down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 (General Safety Regulation II) as regards templates for the approval of the intelligent speed assistance system, the driver drowsiness and attention warning system, the event data recorder, the alcohol interlock installation facilitation and the advanced driver distraction warning system.
In accordance with Article 6(1) of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144, motor vehicles are to be fitted with intelligent speed assistance systems, driver drowsiness and attention warning systems, event data recorders, alcohol interlock installation facilitation and advanced driver distraction warning systems. In order to ensure uniform implementation of that Regulation, it is appropriate to identify the information relevant for the approval of each of those systems.
It is necessary to ensure a consistent approach, in particular as regards the specific information relevant for the approval of each of the systems to be included in the information document.
Furthermore, harmonised templates of the approval documents are needed to ensure clarity, predictability and consistency of the information to be provided and thus, reducing the administrative burden for both the manufacturers and the approval authorities.
For example, for driver drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW) system, the following set of information is required in the type approval document:
