South Korea: Updates to Regulation on Testing and Inspection and Related Procedures for Manufactured Motor Vehicles

Korea has published an update to the Regulation on Testing and Inspection and Related Procedures for Manufactured Motor Vehicles.

The test procedure has been revised to include testing of the low-temperature single-charge driving range for electric vehicles.

In scope are Electric passenger vehicles with a gross weight rating (GVWR) of 3.5 tonners of more.

The following fragment has been inserted:

For large and extra-large passenger vehicles, the electric driving distance is measured according to [Appendix 5-6]. However, for articulated buses, double-decker buses, and large and extra-large cargo vehicles whose structural characteristics make it impossible to conduct a single-charge driving distance test on a chassis dynamometer, the electric driving distance is measured on a road at a constant speed of 73.0 km/h according to KS R 1135, “Electric Vehicle Energy Consumption Rate and Single-Charge Driving Distance Test Method.”
